The Human Behind Skewed Strokes
well… it’s me
Hello
My name is Thea Sneha Borschau Offersen
and I am one skewed soul if there ever was one.
I am a Danish artist, author, observer of odd things, collector of stories, and holder of a Master's degree in Communication.
Most days, you will find me drawing, writing, photographing something that probably caught my attention for far too long, or wondering why humans insist on being so wonderfully complicated.
how it started
Skewed Strokes was born after the death of my best friend and grandfather, Bennert Offersen,
and my obviously failed suicide attempt in May 2025. Now I will attempt to live instead.
What followed was the shitty thing they call healing - it sucks and hurts btw.
Somewhere between grief, psychiatric treatment, survival, and becoming someone I barely recognised, I lost my sense of identity.
So I started looking for what remained.
what remained
Stories.
My grandparents.
My great-grandparents.
Their humour.
Their stubbornness.
Their curiosity.
Their way of seeing the world.
Like many of them, I was often the odd one out.
The slightly strange one.
The one who never quite fitted where she was expected to fit.
In that sense, I come from a long line of beautifully skewed people.
roots that connect us
Skewed Strokes became my way of honouring them.
Not through perfection.
Not through grand gestures.
But through observation, creativity, and attention.
I believe the people we love never truly disappear.
They continue through the stories we tell.
The habits we inherit.
The values they leave behind.
The laughter we recognise as theirs.
The art we create because of them.
We may all be skewed in our own ways.
But we are skewed together.
And in that sense, connected for eternity.
I love them dearly.
What I am working with
I work across:
✏️ Drawing
📷 Photography
📖 Writing
🖤 Observation
Most of my work explores identity, belonging, memory, human behaviour, nature, and the strange beauty of being alive.
some of my current projects
I am currently preparing two books for publication.
The stories themselves are written;
what remains is the final editing, cover design,
and all the practical bits that turn a thought into a book.“The Unknown”
A Danish literary fiction novel written while confined
to a locked psychiatric ward, in an attempt to survive it.
♡Illustrationsbook in the making: Skewed Strokes for Skewed Souls
For the misunderstood, the misplaced, and the beautifully skewed.
Created in honour of Bennert, Marianne, Elly, Bertil, Kaj, Lars, Nina, and Annette.
Their stories, humour, stubbornness, curiosity, and love continue to shape the way I see the world.
In many ways, this project is a way of returning to them.
Eight animals, each representing an ancestor whose life, character, love and presence continue to guide me.
To the trees.
To the wildflowers.
To the earth beneath our feet.
♡a tiny mission and message
My Instagram, @skewedstrokes, serves as a living portfolio.
It documents my work, my process, and the inevitable mess that comes with creating something meaningful. As unavoidable as it is, it is often quite funny too.
If my work, art, or words can leave behind a small star in the darkest places, a small beat for a weary heart, or a small sense of companionship for someone who feels alone, misunderstood, or simply out of place,
then I have probably done what I came here to do.
