Copyright and Ownership

Copyright and ownership of the physical object are separate rights.

The purchase of an original artwork, print, book, physical recording, or other physical creative work does not, by itself, transfer copyright or other intellectual property rights.

Likewise, purchasing a physical or digital product does not grant the purchaser the right to reproduce, modify, distribute, publish, license, commercially exploit, or create derivative works from the underlying copyrighted material unless such rights have been expressly granted in writing or arise under mandatory applicable law.

Prints, Editions and Reproductions

The sale of a print, reproduction, edition, poster, book, or other product incorporating an artwork does not transfer copyright in the underlying artwork.

The artist retains the copyright and associated rights in the underlying creative work unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Unless expressly permitted, purchasers may not reproduce, scan, photograph for reproduction, copy, modify, redistribute, resell as reproductions, license, publish, or commercially exploit the work.

Music, Recordings and Spoken-Word Works

Music, compositions, lyrics, sound recordings, spoken-word recordings, readings, podcasts, performances, and other audio works created or released under Skewed Strokes remain protected by applicable copyright and related rights.

Unless otherwise stated or agreed in writing, purchasing or accessing a recording does not grant the purchaser ownership of the copyright or the right to reproduce, distribute, publicly communicate, synchronize, sample, remix, license, or commercially exploit the recording or underlying work.

Where a work involves multiple creators, performers, musicians, producers, or other contributors, their respective rights remain subject to the applicable agreements and legislation.

Commissioned and Booked Works

Commissioned artworks, studies, recordings, written works, photographs, designs, music, and other commissioned creative works remain protected by copyright.

Payment for, booking of, or delivery of a commissioned work does not, by itself, constitute a transfer of copyright.

Any transfer or licence of copyright or specific usage rights must be expressly agreed in writing, including, where appropriate, the scope, duration, territory, media, and permitted uses.

Studies of the Human Form

Artwork created as part of the Studies of the Human Form project remains the copyright of the artist, subject to any separate written agreement.

Participation as a model or subject does not, by itself, grant copyright ownership in the resulting artwork or the right to reproduce, publish, distribute, commercially exploit, or otherwise use the artwork.

The artist may, subject to applicable law and any separate agreement with the participant, exhibit, publish, reproduce, archive, document, and sell the resulting artwork.

Where an identifiable person is depicted or recorded, separate rights concerning their image, privacy, personal data, name, voice, or other personal rights may apply. Appropriate permissions or agreements will be obtained or addressed separately where required.

Artist's Documentation and Promotion

The artist may photograph, record, reproduce, publish, exhibit, archive, and otherwise document completed creative works for purposes including portfolio presentation, exhibitions, publications, websites, social media, press, educational material, promotional material, archival documentation, and presentation of the artist's practice, subject to applicable law and any contractual restrictions.

Third-Party Works and Contributors

Where a work incorporates material created by another person or entity, the rights of that creator or rights holder remain unaffected.

Where collaborators, musicians, performers, photographers, writers, designers, models, producers, or other contributors participate in a work, their respective rights and permissions may be governed by separate agreements.

Nothing in this notice is intended to claim ownership of rights that belong to another person or entity.

No Implied Licence

Unless expressly stated otherwise, making creative works available for purchase, viewing, listening, download, streaming, or other access does not grant any implied licence to reproduce, distribute, publish, modify, adapt, publicly perform, communicate, license, or commercially exploit those works beyond the use expressly permitted by the applicable purchase terms or written agreement.

This garden of odd things — Skewed Strokes — uses cookies and similar tracking niblets to help the site breathe, move, and remember. They let pages behave, features sing, and help us understand how fellow skewed souls wander our paths.

What are cookies? Cookies are tiny text petals placed on your device when you visit a website. They let the site tend to itself properly and whisper back to us how visitors travel across pages and linger on corners of the site over time.

Cookies we may use

  • Essential Cookies These are the backbone — the roots that keep the site standing. They’re necessary for the website to operate as intended, supporting security, navigation, and appointment-scheduling features so you can use core functions without interruption.

  • Analytics Cookies These quietly gather patterns of movement: which pages bloom, which paths are trodden, how long someone rests with a line of prose. We use them to refine content, smooth creases, and make the experience truer to your wandering.

  • Third-Party Services Skewed Strokes sometimes invites other strange creatures to the garden. These services may place their own cookies or collect information under their own practices: • Squarespace • Acuity Scheduling • Google Fonts • Social media platforms linked from this website
